Piet Groen trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam and was also taught by Johannes Gerardus Heijberg and Alexander Henri Robert van Maasdijk. He was a member of the Artists' Society in Rotterdam. Groen painted cityscapes, Rotterdam harbors, landscapes, and still lifes.
